As he travels back to his childhood neighborhood in California, he photographs the landscapes, objects, and memories that were taken from him, while also setting up handmade passport booths that invite others affected by deportation policies to reclaim their stories and identities through photography and poetry.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Films - SOY DE LAS NUBES - BARUCK RACINE - director</image:title>
<image:caption>The work of Baruck reflects his experiences as an indigenous person pierced by migration. Born in la Mixteca region of Oaxaca, his family migrated undocumented to California in 1990. In 2000 he and his family were part of a forced return due to anti-migrant politics in the United States. Having grown up in the U.S., upon his family’s return to Mexico, Baruck found himself in a state of “in-betweenness,” belonging neither here nor there. Taking photos became a way to engage with his condition directly, raising broader questions about indigeneity, national identity, memory, longing, and abandonment.</image:caption>
